Enough

Enough
(Pink Slip for B. G., esq.)

Ten inches of assessments already existed
and were in their possession
when they mysteriously went missing
just before the deposition.
And still they wanted more.
They wanted
one
more
excellent team of professionals
to review his every deficit
from his cranium to his etiquette,
every twitch or bobbing motion,
every miscommunication
an opportunity

to raise again the expectation
of Institutionalization,
if not for rehabilitations,
or heroic interventions,
if not for special educations
and backdated fabrications
for impunity.

He’s had enough.

Not one
more
inch of observation
no more trials of isolation
no more expert suppositions
on the depth of his perceptions
whether for scientific exploration
(or for future litigation)
Your services are no longer required.

Besides, a case review will show
You’ve got all you need to know
to put him closer into focus
for those not wired to notice
or to reveal a goddam plan to rework intelligent design:
Every carefully wrought conception,
Every testament to creation,
Each silent scream or unheard sign:
Hey! Look at me!
I’m living, breathing, growing,
Loving, thinking, knowing--
An abstract consciousness.
It's unnerving, but it's true:
He's as defensible as you.
Immeasurable,
unyielding,
and undeniable.

Please post any questions you have and I'll do my best to answer them here.
